Sumo Baby

2 mornings in a row I spent some time at the hospital for the wee little one. OK, OK... BIG ONE (more on this later).
One day was planned, one not so much.

I woke up for my first shift on my new schedule and took my BP like I do every morning after I get up and going, and I got a sky high diastolic reading. I took it again on the other arm, same thing. The pulse correlated with the heart rate, so I made the call and they wanted me to come in right away.

20 minutes later we we're sitting in my Dr's office worried sick if I was starting the path to preeclampsia again. My BP was elevated but thankfully it wasn't anywhere close to what I got at home. They checked some labs and those all came back 100% PERFECT. So I was cleared to go to work and continue on my day.

Today at my normal appointment, we found out this baby is over a week ahead in growth, 70% to be exact. He weighs about 10 ounces at 18.6 weeks and is YES, still a boy. My placenta is behaving and LOOKS like it has not invaded the uterine wall through my c-section scar (yet) and we are hoping it stays that way for the remainder of this pregnancy.

All good news, something we barely got with little Nolan. When Nolan was 18.6 weeks, he was 3% and falling off the charts. So I am sure you can believe I almost fell out of my seat when she mentioned 70%. Baby 'hopefully we stick to the name we picked' stays on this track- if so, I am in for it. Guess this explains why I have grown to a size we didn't see until I was 23 weeks with Nolan and how I constantly feel this baby kicking. Bliss. I'll embrace every second of it.

Bless this baby, but my family is convinced he is coming out the size of a sumo baby, just like my little sister Molly.
Molly Catherine
10.5lbs and throwing gang signs out of the womb. .
Yes, she is this bad ass.
And NO, she was NOT a c-section. Poor Mom

So glad to hear your bp ended up being normal!!

And, oh Molly Catherine... Such a giant baby!

We always joke about how big our baby is going to be... geesh! Now I have a visual, ahaha!

Glad to hear that you are well and above average with your little boy!

And I am almost peeing my pants looking at that baby photo of your sister (gang signs, LOL).

I gave birth to a 10lb 13oz naturally ~ yes, I can apparently birth a Mac Truck if need be. Big or little, they are all precious and perfect!

I have wondered if you received the email I sent you last week...I wanted to do something for your new baby...but I wasn't sure if you wanted to take me up on it or not. Just wanted to throw it out there.

My son measured 11oz at 18 weeks 1 day. He was born 8lbs 3oz and 23 inches long. He was long and skinny. lol He's pretty much been about 90% his whole life.

Love that picture of your sister! lol

I remember your grandma telling us about Molly when she was born she was a big baby. I am glad you got good news on your little one. But perhaps the size of Chris has something to do with his size. Glad he is growing like he should.
Take it easy at work.

Daaaang! Your sis was huge! :)
Keep all the good news coming and keep growing that baby! He will probably be a big boy, but you dont have to worry because you're getting a c-section.

Love You! Hope to see you SOON.

POOR MOM! Thank goodness you will have a c-section if that's the case! So glad all is well, I know that pre-e fear is intense. Keep yourself calm, and go with the flow...you are getting there.

So happy to hear that you and the sweet baby are okay. I have been following your story for a while (linked from an infertility blog)but don't post much. Your story and the story of Nolan's life have touched my heart. You are both fighters. I am so happy to hear about your rainbow baby and my prayers are with you that the horrible preeclampsia stays away (my niece is a 33 week NICU survivor who had bad IUGR from pre-e).

I know you are doing everything possible to keep this not so litle :), little one safe. You are in my prayers and thoughts and I am pulling for a healthy baby brother for Nolan. I was just wondering if you are planning on stopping work at a certain time or if the Dr.'s think that would help as a preventative? Since your BP has had a spike would stopping work now be helpful in trying to prevent future spikes or early onset? Maybe modified bedrest?

I love the good update (not so much the unplanned part, but that it all came out ok!)

Seriously, I died laughing at sweet Molly throwing gang signs.
Your poor mom!!

Matthew was always measuring small (but I am really small, so that was not unusual) and when he was born, he was 6 lbs, 6 oz. (which was pretty close to what they were predicting via u/s) but 22 inches long!! STRING BEAN! People could believe that I carried him.

Luke is measuring about 5 ounces at 16 weeks, so Baby Sumo has two weeks and twice his weight!! WHEW!

Can't wait to see those thighs on him!!! Love, love, love those baby thights!!
xoxoxo
